Gay men drogheda

Last week a notice published on Drogheda Existence about the forthcoming Drogheda Pride Festival was met with an avalanche of hateful and homophobic abuse and slurs on social media platforms.
Everyone remembers the outpouring of pleasure and love when, in May , Ireland became the first country in the world to approve same-sex marriage. Of the 60 percent of the eligible population who voted, 62% gave the thumbs up to changing the law while only 38% voted No.
I don’t often peer at social media at weekends because they are a time for relaxation and enjoyment, for spending time with family and friends. But yesterday I received a chat from a companion alerting me to the hundreds of vile comments appearing on Facebook.

Gay dating in Drogheda
Drogheda is place to multiple breweries and distilleries. Famous for facilities of famous brands like Jameson, Jack Daniel’s, and Coca-Cola, the town has one of the healthiest economies despite being quite limited in diversity and scope.
With most residents leaning toward conservative views, the town is not the optimal place for LGBT community members. Gay men in Drogheda may not be oppressed, discriminated against, or hated, but the general attitude of locals is quite negative. Many businesses go as far as to deny service to homosexuals.
With such hostility on display, living as openly queer in Drogheda cannot be a good experience. It is also quite bad when it comes to seeking romance. Finding a good partner in a town with so many unwelcoming people is challenging.

The Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee TD, has today launched a public consultation that will hopefully guide to a scheme to "disregard" historic convictions associated to consensual sexual action between men.Affected persons and representative organisations are entity asked to take part in a survey on a number of key issues, based on their lived experience. Their responses will inform the ultimate recommendations of a Operational Group who are examining the development of a scheme of disregard convictions for consensual sexual exercise between men prior to decriminalisation in Minister McEntee said: “We want to ensure that any potential scheme is as powerful and accessible as achievable so that we can exonerate those impacted by these outdated laws and address some of the lingering harms of the past. “I would encourage any of the affected men, their families, loved ones and the wider Gay community to engage with this consultation so that we can be mindful of their unique perspectives as we move forward.” The survey |
