  • Location: 14th & T Street NW (adjacent to Room & Board)
  • Admission: Entry is free, but registration is required for a wristband. Pre-registration has closed.
  • Accommodations: Folding chairs and space reserved for wheelchairs available on a first come first work for basis. ASL interpretation provided. Registration does not guarantee entry due to capacity.
  • Hours of Operation: Entry begins at 1PM. Area closes after conclusion of Parade.

  • Location: Pennsylvania Ave NW (south of Freedom Plaza)
  • Admission: Entry is free, but registration is required for a wristband.
  • Accommodations: Bleacher seating and territory reserved for wheelchairs ready on a first approach first serve basis. Registration does not guarantee entry due to capacity.
  • Hours of Operation: Entry begins at 1PM. Area closes after conclusion of Parade.

Across the world, Pride remains a protest, a salient act of resistance uniting woman loving woman, gay, bisexual, gender nonconforming, intersex, and gender non-conforming (LGBTIQ) people. As socio-cultural and political contexts evolve, Lgbtq+ fest and LGBTIQ representation events celebrate resilience, progress, and courage, and they showcase the persistence of LGBTIQ communities in constructing liberating alternatives enforced cisheternormativity. 

Outright International identified UN member states worldwide where Pride and other LGBTIQ visibility events were held in , with at least 61 of these holding Identity festival events both within and outside the capital city. These events aim at resisting state-sanctioned homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, and intersexphobia, building widespread awareness about LGBTIQ populations through the reaffirmation of the existence of diversity, building community and collaboration within LGBTIQ populations, and celebrating gains. The exhibition disrupts the popularly held belief that the LGBTQ+ Rights Movement began with the Stonewall Riots in New York. While this pushback to police abuse was vital, DC’s LGBTQ+ history of resistance actually predates the Stonewall Riots. RHP recognizes this picket, four years before the Stonewall Riots, where 10 members of the Mattachine Society of Washington marched with signs in front of the White House–as the commence of DC’s rich queer history.
